trans issue.. tow/haul flashing

ok guys i left the house tonight to go to the er to get a piece of metal out of my eyeball and im already pissed off. well i pull outta the driveway it had a delayed/slipped shift into 3 and i pull out again and same thing in 3rd and 4th also, its done that before goin into 3rd but i was convinced it was the tune (old free spartan tune)cuz if i drove it a lil harder it wouldnt do it, seemed to only do it when very light on the throttle, but when i changed the tune it fixed it and its been fine since. then im pullin out on the 4 lane and it didnt wanna go. like it was stuck in 3rd or some other higher gear, so i left off the gas and got back on it and then it downshifted and did a couple other goofy shifts up and down and tow/haul starts flashin. wouldnt go into high gear then, at this point im really pissed, so i pull over, try pullin out again it goes up through the first 4 gears fine but still wont go into od, so i pull over turn the truck off, start it back up and its perfectly fine all the way to the hospital, i leave the hospital, it runs fine the whole way home and even beat on it some and it shifts great, havent got a chance to check the codes yet but i will in the am. any idea what this could have been, theres no sign anything is wrong now. my trannys always been good to me and i just changed the fluid and filter maybe 1000 miles ago with mercon sp and the old fluid looked great, and its been workin great up untill tonight, im runnin the extreme street from idp. any help would be great thanks

I would grab the code using a reader that can pull those specific codes

how's the Eye? I hate when that happens and it's always my own fault

same situation as me... mine did the same thing after i flushed it.. pulled codes PO761 and P2702... A day later the trans is toasted... Fluid was black and lot of debris in it

jeff dont say that lol, our shop has a snap on modis ill try and pull the codes. eye is fine now btw.

Usually the tow/haul flashing means damage is already done. Mine did the same thing anytime I put tried to use tow/haul, it would all of a sudden stop shifting gears and lock into whatever gear it was currently in, then the light would flash and it would free-wheel going down hills and such. My tranny was TOAST.

just an update. fluid level is full and red as can be. havent got a chance to scan the codes yet. i drove the truck to dennys tonight and shifted fine the whole time like nothing was ever wrong, maybe there was a piece of dirt or something in the solenoid or possibly just a stuck solenoid.im also thinking this may be tune related, im not sure thought. but heres the deal. i let the truck sit all winter only starting it maybe once a month. something was drawing my batteries down though because i had to jump the truck everytime i wanted to start it, i think it was my brake controller cuz the light stays lit all the time on it, but anyways the batteries are junk cuz i just had to jump the truck again last night after only sitting 2 days. but last time i flashed a tune i started the truck and it almost didnt start because the batteries were low i guess from having the key on while flashing. im thinking that may have been messing with the tune a lil cuz it also starts up kinda funny since the flash. which soon after is when i had this trans issue. im tryin to convince myself my trans is still good if you havent noticed lol but any input would be helpful

Mine appeared to drive 100% fine as long as I left tow/haul off. Although I did get it to slip once or twice when doing a boosted launch in x-race...

My fluid was red and looked fine too.

I would still get it looked at man. Tech that tore mine apart said it's one of the worst one's he's ever seen.

And pony up for batteries ,, on a 6.0 and it's complex electronics needs good batteries,, you can actually damage some stuff if they are bad

im gonna run it till it breaks lol. i kinda have one lined up if i need one. i tried running it with the tow haul on and it doesnt seem to make a diff. we'll see what happens, its been fine since so idk
