Trans temp sensor

Where is the trans temp sensor located? My friend says his 6.0's gauge falls out to nothing, the tow haul light flashes, and he is seeing a message "Check transmission temp".

He can't pull codes and I'll have AE with me tonight when I look at it. Anyone seen this before?

In the trans pull the pan and the filter. Pretty common item to fail.

It's easy to change just twist and pull the old one out and put the new one in. May as well change the filter too as you will already have it out.

The transmission pan gasket is reusable according to ford....but is it really?
