2003 F350 6.0 with 58V FICM, Driving down the road the temp guage on the transmisson will jump hot on the temp guage on the dash an make the light flash on shifter for tow/haul. I checked the temp with the digital read out in the mileage window, it told me the trans temp was 254 and as I drove down the road a couple miles the coolant temp guage on the dash and the digital readout jump back down to regular operating temp. I was not pulling anything at the times it did this. Is the temp sensor bad? It does the same scenario the whole time while you drive it with the guages going up n down with in a matter of minutes. Also, truck wont go into overdrive when the lights blinking on the shifter...please help!!

Have you verified the temperature of.the.fluid. I mean by a thermometer? I have multiple.forms of transmission temp monitoring and.the.best is.my edge cts which uses the.factory sensor. An autometer gauge, or.their sending unit rather, isnt an accurate way to monitor the temp. I bring.this up so if you decide to buy gauges you dont buy autometer ****. Get isspro and keep moving ahead.

The obd2 port is where the computer gets its reading, it could be bad or reading properly. If you had a back up like a isspro you could quickly verify it. The sensors do go bad on these trucks and if the computer sees it, the truck will go into limp mode to save the tranny
