I want to line-X my bed but was quoted $800 to patch holes, sand blast, primer. So can a newer bed be swapped easier/cheaper? Or near same price? Also electrical connections simple or same connections?

You could use a bed from any 99-10 Super Duty and the body lines would match. 2011 and newer will still fit but the wheel openings look slightly different.

Got any pics to compare or have a link?

Another bed won't be much cheaper, these go for pretty good money around my area, even when they're well used!

i had my 2011 done when it was new a week after owning the truck. i paid line X $650. So depending on the wholes they are patching and the added prep work to a 10 year old truck. the added $150 cost doesnt seem that bad to me at all.

$800 is just for prep work, another $500 for line-x

gonna be tough to find a bed that isn't going to need some work (at the very least paint) for that price. Seems an 08+ "new take-off" is going to be about $1500-2000 so you might be able to find gently used around $1000 or so, but then hunting or waiting for one that is the right color will be the real challenge, unless your truck is already white.

I put a 2010 bed on my 1999 truck. Fit perfect, I did have to swap connectors. I used the connectors off my 1999 bed and spliced the wires from the 2010 lights to it.

Thanks. Is it wire for wire? I found a bed but have to drive a bit to get it and will just mount it there n drive home.

I do know there are three different bolt sizes, just replaced my bed not long ago, bolts differ in overall length and thread length, as far as the bed goes, I found a bed for $300, needed some body work and paint, $700, all in all $1000 in the bed, good as new though

Hope this helps
