What cools the turbo?

From what I've been reading, it seems there is an oil cooler that circulates oil through the turbo that cools it. I know these questions may seem dumb to a lot of people but I am learning this truck from the start. I've never owned a diesel truck. I'm getting ready to do the ****** and was just curious. I've read that removing the emissions stuff will actually help the turbo's lifespan. I plan on keeping this truck for a long time and would certainly like to know which way to go to upgrade a turbo if needed.

they're water cooled, but I wouldn't worry about the turbo. they're not a high failure rate item like the Dodge 6.7 turbos, for example
