I'm 6.4 guy helping out a friend on his 6.0. I'm doing the egr and a new oil cooler.
I have the truck tore down and the oil cooler removed. it's clogged up bad. when I drained the coolant it was black/brown, looked like muddy water. my question is what should I do about flushing/cleaning the cooling system with the oil cooler already removed? I'm afraid even if I try a couple fill and drains it will still clog up the new oil cooler.
will a coolant filter take care of it or are we pretty much screwed and going to have to change a few oil coolers?
