Glad to help ya out. If you think that type S hits hard should try a type r with about double the recommended power. The type arrrgh as they used to call em were well known for taking gobbs of power and being a pretty good budget ground pounder.

Not really any difference sound wise between a regular and a shallow. It is just with the different topology of Underhung/Overhung vs XBL^2. The XBL^2 is extremely rare though so most likely 90% of people haven't even heard of it. As best I know the only companies to build them were Adire Audio (defunct looong time ago) and Stereo Integrity has used it on the past 3 subs he produced, and I am sure there is at least 1 other company but I really can't think of one.

I am pretty sure Bigrpowr has three of them in his newest ride. Maybe shoot him a PM and see what he thinks of them. Here is a thread on them, http://powerstrokearmy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40696&highlight=mikey

honeslty its prolly what i will do in my green truck too if i decide to add weight. what i am most shocked at josh, is the lows. it picks up the lowest lows i have ever had personally. i have a knob too control the subs, but i have never turned the gain over half way .. crazy a slash 500 will push 3 with such ease.

If you want to bang and sound really good doing it alpine type r shallow. If you want a sub that sounds amazing and blends flawlessly with your fronts fills and surrounds you with bass effortlessly go SI shallow.

Niice!! Even more impressive being in a smaller sealed box too. Those subs really do look great on paper too. I think you've found the perfect setup for those new trucks, easily adaptable into the older trucks too, keeps the power slider most guys have and doesn't change a lot of the interior to install.

That's what I like to hear!

What made you make the switch from the mkIII's to the Type R's? Just looking for more bass?

I know this single mkIV I have will not satisfy what I am looking for, especially as a replacement for my Mag V4, but I always wanted to stuff 4 of the mkIII's behind the rear seat off a Saz3000D figuring then I could get both clean bass with some authority :evil

Yes more output, but ill be selling the alpines for the mkIV's. The new ones take more power and are more efficient so should get louder then the mkIII's also im now more after sq and want the subs to disaper into the sound stage. Ill be powering them with the same rockford t1500bdcp tuned correctly, which does 1750w at 2ohm. Im also going to put them in the same .70 box at first. Might have to shrink it up.

Awesome!! I'd love to see some pics of that when you get them in, or even of the current alpine setup.

I am pretty excited to try out this mkIV since I never got a chance to try the mkIII's. I can't imagine a single mkIV comparing to my mag V4 in output, but a pair or more would work nice. My current center console is 0.93 for the mag, so I need to shrink it down, and will put my sundown 1500D to 2ohm which should be roughly 800w which is a good bit of head room for the single mkIV but be nice to see how it responds with the added power.

You can also use 2in spacers under your seat mounts to raise it up some to get more clearance if you want to run a more Traditional sub like a Sundown SD model, I bought a 12 to go under my seats but have decided to just do a single 15 and remove the 40 split.

Single 15 is gonna be fun, and not many people will believe you when you say you have a 15" sub in your truck without a blow through.

I've toyed with squeezing one in on the center console, but never got around to building everything. I think it's 17" between the seats, challenge just becomes getting enough air space for a 15

I wish I could give you one, been too busy to mess around with it or anything at all. Hopefully soon though I'll get it into the truck and start some listening.

Sounds good. I'd like to go back to a single for simplicity's sake. I"ve even been looking at the 8" factory setup JD used. I want to keep things simple and easy.
