08+ 2WD Wheel Fitment

OK, I've been all over the internet and searched this forum and others looking for pictures and information to confirm the wheel size and offset/backspacing to get the look I'm after.

From what I can tell, the 08+ 2WD trucks all have the same suspensions and track widths. I will be lowering the truck (typical 3/5 drop). Call me picky (I've been called worse), but I do NOT want the tires on the truck to stick out noticeably, it's just not my style. I would like for them to end up right at flush with the fender lips (front and rear).

The wheel I like the most is 20x9 with a +10mm offset (5.39" backspace). I'm afraid that's not enough and it will stick out more than I want. If I'm seeing right, Daves truck (http://powerstrokearmy.com/forums/showpost.php?p=484769&postcount=7) has a +18mm offset (front 20x9) and still sticks out slightly. The +10mm I'm looking at will stick out more if I understand correctly.

So, if I can find one, I'm probably looking for something with more than +18mm offset.

To compound this issue, I don't care for all of the fake bolt heads, fake beadlock, and other similar features that make most wheels look like they were designed for 4x4 trucks only. I prefer a smooth, "sport truck" looking wheel. Unfortunately, the choices are limited in 8-Lug configurations.

So...here are my questions:

1. If I get (4) wheels with the same offset, will they sit the same at the fender lip...or is the front and rear track width different?

2. Has anyone with an 08+ found a 9" wide wheel with an offset that fits flush (or very very close) at the fender? If so, what was the offset and who makes the wheel?

3. Any suggestions for wheels that fit what I'm looking for...or for companies that do custom wheels/offsets for 8-lug trucks?

4. Any pictures of an 08+ 2WD (lowered or stock) that I may not have seen in the other threads on this site?

Thanks guys!

I wouldn't stagger wheels but if you don't you'll need spacers for the back (which I would do). I would try a 20x9 with a tad bit of negative or zero offset or a 20x10 with positive offset.

I have in idea on the offset but the MT classic gets my vote for a simple good looking wheel.

There are several wheels that are close...but none that are right.

ALL of these would be the Chrome or Polished variety.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the BMF Novakanes, but they can't do any different offsets. The answer I got back is that they are "made for 4WD trucks". That wheel, with the "fake allen heads" removed from the lip and around the spokes would be PERFECT otherwise.

This one is a serious contender : http://www.billetspecialties.com/wheels/eight-lug-wheels/haulerseries/octane8/ Only downside is that they don't do a 9" wide...and I'm worried that the 9.5" wide will rub on the inside if I get it flush on the outside. I could do a stagger and put the 9.5" in the back and a set of 8" wide in the front. This setup is toward the top of my list right now.

Another on my list in terms of the style I like is this one: http://www.mkwalloy.com/wheels/full_detail.asp?id=316#mkw-offroad-M86-CHROME Unfortunately, this one is only available in a +10mm offset, which I'm afraid will stick out.

This is a darn good looking wheel (still don't like the fake bolt heads): http://www.modbargains.com/KMC-Backseat-Chrome-F-250-F-350.htm ...but again...offset is wrong.

I like the Moto Metal 962, but the offset is wrong and the center cap is too 4x4ish for me.

The Ion Alloy 183 is pretty sharp, and the offset at +18mm is pretty close (same as the front of Daves truck).

That should give you an idea of the "style" I'm after. Right now the Billet Specialties is in the lead, particularly since I can specify the backspacing/offset. If I was doing a lifted 4x4, this would be so much easier.

Open to any suggestion that involves "get a 4x4" or "don't be so picky"...LMAO! Thanks!

What about a set of Welds? Pricey and a bit of a wait time... BUT, I'm pretty sure you can specify the width and offset...

Weld website only allows for -6mm or -32mm offset on an 8x170 wheel, I need a positive offset. Do they do "custom" offsets?

I believe I saw somewhere that they did custom offsets. Positive offset will definitely be the ticket for what you want I think. I've seen Dave's truck when we were down at Swamp's a few months ago and the front wheel fitment was very flush. Just need to achieve that in the rear too...

Very sharp. T56's will be the next wheels on my green truck when money allows... Definitely worth the phone call to find out.

Me too. I've got an email in to them with some questions too. Not much love in the "cool wheel dept" for us 2WD guys.

Agreed. I was hoping this thread would help me too with my 99 2wd but I am guessing not, since you mentioned the 08's have wider axles or something?

I ran a 20x9 10+ offset wheel from Rev on my 99 2wd truck, they were pretty flush with the fenders. That wheel style is a bit dated these days though...

I struggled with this same problem for a Dodge 2500 I owned, also 2wd. I used a website(link below) to help choose wheel and tire size and finally bought an MHT wheel branded as 'Elite' Phase 8- 22x9 with something like +20mm offset(?). Offset calculator website

Centerline makes several wheels in a high offset, but they're 8.5 wide and will not be flush, more so sit inside the wheel well.

looked okay, but the chrome wasn't awesome...required constant attention.

Mine are +11. They are flush with the lip in the rear but stick out a little in the front. My rims are 9" wide.

Do you have any pictures of the front, with the wheels NOT turned? Or can you take a quick one with a phone or something?
