wanting opinions and knowledge as i have never rebuilt a rear end before so any info would help. so about 2 weeks ago i noticed that when i would shift my truck from park to drive it felt like i would jump like 2 inches. after that i pulled the rear diff cover off and checked the fluid and there was a lot of metal shavings... so i know that a rebuild is coming soon i just want to know what brands and what parts work from others experience. also thinking about a locker. please help!!!

I usually use Timken bearings with all OEM Ford seals, crush sleeve, etc. And if you are gonna go with a new carrier I'd get a TrueTrac over a locker if the vehicle sees a majority of street use.

You're gonna need a press, dial indicator w/base, bearing race driver, and torque wrenches including a beam type to set pinion preload. Among your typical tools.
