Wondering if anyone has these and what their opinions on them are? Looks like I'll be needing to replace some of my shocks on the front.

Thanks

I am using them..they do ride better than the #5100's. Shane at Bilsteins racing dept helped valve these specifically for the SD's..if I can get you pricing please PM.

We have used these on a couple kits and the customers were very happy with them. Definitely get the valved specific ones and not just a generic 5160.

Old thread, but valid question...how much difference is in the valved specific ones and a standard one? Also, do the valved specific ones need to be special ordered?

They have a specific part number for the custom valved.
The ride difference is pretty noticeable between that and a standard valved 5160.

Love mine. Rides a little stiffer then the worn out stockers, but absorbs bumps and pot holes very well. They are more off-road ish then street if you ask me.

I have read that Carli has specific valving in their 5160s. Is it different than the Bilstein SD specific valving?

Yeah that's where I got the part numbers from. Just reading the thread seems like there's the generic 5160s and ones valved particularly for Super Dutys so it created some doubt. Thanks for confirming. I wonder if shockwarehouse still has a problem with charging double.

That is the same place where I got my 5160's for my 02. Rode like dog sh$t IMHO, no better or no worse than the pro-comp junk I installed when I was poor and broke.

If you want a better ride, spend the $ for custom valved units. I did have Fox shocks on my stock 08 and it rode better than the 5160. Different trucks so that may have part to do w/ it but the 5160 experience soured me on bilsteins.

Just had a member on here take his bilsteins off that he had for less than a year. Pretty much said they rode horrible.
