So I'm replacing the power steering pump on my 08 and for the life of me I can't get the fan off the water pump. I've got the right size wrench but can't keep the water pump pulley from turning. Any ideas how to keep it from turning so I can knock this thing loose?

Also, if you're facing the motor, I'm turning counter clockwise, that's the correct direction right?

Mine sucked, but left handed threads. So attempting to righty to loosen! Facing the engine, clockwise is off.

Cool, so clockwise is how to get it off. Okay, but now I still need a way to hold the water pump pully. How did you hold yours? Thanks btw

Here's how I did mine on my 7.3. 1" ratchet strap hooked to the frame, wrapped around the water pump pulley a couple times, then to the driver's side frame. I wrapped a piece of soft rubber around the pulley first because the ratchet strap wouldn't grip it by itself.

Nice. I'll have to try that.

Okay, got it off! Took a clutch fan kit and FINALLY hit it hard enough to break it free. Got it and the power steering pump out less than an hour.

I believe its a 43mm wrench. I went to the local Autozone and got a loaner 5pc. fan clutch wrench set. I took it back and bought a set just like it from another store b/c it came with a lifetime warranty. Cost me $60.
