Short and sweet here... Going to be purchasing 22x10 possible 10.5 -24,-25 mm offset.. you know the gig.. i have no doubt i will clear them with either setup but i prefer to barely clear them as opposed to too much lift for the 35's

I daily drive 40-50 miles

I offroad rarely, when at the rancho, offroad park with the four wheeler, or beach

PMF 3" bottom spacer and 4 link and track bar

or

PMF 4.5" with 4 link

both bilstein 5100

im having a hard time justifying the extra $XXX to go with the 4.5 especially being that i need wheels and tires, and the trucks intended use.

Help on ride quality, thoughts, OPINIONS, are much appreciated. I am sick and tired of the crappy 2.5" spacer and stock shock ride.. time to do something

Thanks, Chase

if you just want 35s i would do the 3" vs the 4.5"

Thats my thought, but how would the ride quality of his 3" kit with the 4 link and trackbar differ from the ride quality of your basic coil spacer with oem shocks.. I understand it will be significantly better, but the is my first straight axle i come from the land of torsion bars and broken cvs haha

With my duramax i cranked the bars to run 35's.. it rubbed.. bought aftermarket keys.. rode rough.. bought cognito upper control arms.. still wasnt happy.. bought a cognito lift.. but by that point i was so much $ deep and ended up having to replace hubs and ball joints.. just dont want to make the mistake again

I would suggest a replacement coil instead of the spacer. This will increase your ride quality. Do the 2.5" coil. Then simply add a BMC spacer if you want a slightly different stance.

So youre saying add a progressive coil such as icons.. i could do that because its still in the budget.. the 4.5 alpha kit is really pushing the budget with the wheels and tires.. still having to paint match and everything and i have only had the truck 1.5 weeks.. at least i took care of the performance side

I just put a 2.5 Prog Icon on my truck... holy HELL what a difference it is. My wife actually enjoys the rig now. I too dont offroad enough to warrant 4.5" kit & 37's, so a level + 35's was perfect for me. ended up tossin on some 35x12.5r20 Toyo OC AT2 and love the look. Got plenty of room in the wells if I do off-road, and not a single issue w/ these tires on factory rims. no rubbing, trimming, or zip tying anything.

I also am running a PMF Adj Trac bar, and plan on ordering up their 4-link for non-lifted trucks (short arm) once my house sells.

The only thing I would do different, is fork up the extra cash and jump to 5160's all around instead of the 5100's. dont get me wrong, they are great shocks. I just think my ride would be a bit smoother if the shock had a bit of reserve fluid.

Yes i have considered doing the 5160s in front as i plan to do airbags in the rear and dont feel the piggyback is necessary. Thanks for that piece of advice

Yes, I would recommend that you spend a little extra and get the coils. To help with costs and get the best bang for your buck, I would do the 5160 up front and the 5100 in the rear. You will see more improvement from frontend components than rear, not to say the rear isnt important though.

I just did the icon 2.5 coils, 1'' bottom mount spacer, and 20X10s with -24mm offset with 35s. I clear perfectly and never have rubbed even coming in and out of my steep driveway. I bet you'd be fine with just the 2.5'' coils as far as height goes.

I did all that with the 5160s and it rides really nice. I don't offroad my truck either but I can tell you the replacement coil is the way to go over the spacer. I had a spacer on my last truck at first, then went to a 7'' lift and it rode way better with the Icon coils.

So do you think i would benefit more from the 3 link or dual stabilizer.. i know both would be the better option but i am on a semi budget.

Well, I don't have a dual stabilizer on this truck as of right now if that tells you anything. I plan to have one at some point, but was a little tired of spending money at the time I ordered it all. It really seems to drive just fine for the time being without one.

Edit: Also, if you were to do the stabilizer now instead of the 3-link, you'll need a radius arm drop bracket. If you went that route only to decide later that you wanted a 3-link, you'll have spent more money total when you figure in the radius arm drop bracket.

Ok so I finalized my PMF setup. went with the 2.5" icon coil and 1" bmc.

However i did not purchase shocks yet. I have a few weeks to decide.

My question is with 3.5" of lift up front would i be better off with a 2-3.5" shock or a 4-6" shock?

And what size dual stab's do i need for your kit? I THINK i may run the fox 2.0 smooth body all the way around.. Unless there is a reason to go bilstein. I wasnt overly impressed with them on my duramax

I installed my Icons myself. I did have access to a 2 post lift, which was totally worth the drive out to our property in the country. If you are installing yourself, let me know and I might be able to lend a hand.

Did you order an adjustable trac bar from PMF as well? I ordered that plus the 2.5 Icon. i'm currently running 5100 all around, but plan to upgrade to 5160 in the front in a few weeks (dont tell the wife).

I went with the 4-6'' just because I have a history of wanting to go bigger on my lifts, so now I've got some room to grow if I ever want to. The 5160s have that little rubber piece on the shaft that will show you how far compressed the shock has gotten, and on mine with my normal driving it's pushed down to where it still has about 2.5'' to move before it would hit bottom. I intentionally hit speed bumps and other stuff hard some just to see if I could get it to compress further and it hasn't gone any further.

Yea I have access to a hydraulic lift and everything at work. Installation should be cake especially after mastering my IFS on the Chevy. I did order the trackbar and 3 link also. Really looking forward to a smooth riding truck.

Ok man good to know. I'm pumped. Need to decide on a powder coat color too. Possibly keep it simple with flat black but then again simple is boring. I like Greys and silvers.
