Last weekend I brought my truck into work to clean it up a bit. While checking my tire pressure I noticed a line on my front driverside tire. Thinking its just dirty or something I go to wipe it and realize that its a cut...

It was only one tire but still. I paid $440 a piece for these tires here in Canada, they aren't cheap. Worst part is warranty wont cover it because it's vandalism:mad:
This is a flat screw driver bit, the tip is completely in there.

I can say the sidewall isn't as thin as everyone thinks, soft yes but not thin.

You sure you didn't just run something over?

I had my dad take my truck to the shop here while I was at work to get my spare tire ballanced. While he was there he asked if the tire looks slashed or if it looks like I hit anything. My dad is good friends with the owner/mechanic who was ballancing my tire and he said it looks slashed. We live in an area with lots of gravel roads and he has seen a LOT of flats, and cut tires and he said it looked slashed. Plus I had 3 co-works say that it looked slashed too. Two weeks ago I had my truck at work and washed it and what not, there was no cut mark on that tire (I'm pretty anal with finding these things on my truck). During this inbetween time, the only place my truck went was my girlfriend took it to work the one day when we had about half a foot of snow on the ground and the road wasnt cleaned yet. Her work is like a 2 minute drive from our house. I also dont have the best relationship with my neighbour, and I would not be surprised if him or one of his deadbeat friends did it.

I don't know how insurance works up there, but here that would be covered under comprehensive coverage, if you have it. (Vandalism.)

The reason I ask is because i have seen slashed tires before. They have a smallish hole punched in the side. You don't need a giant slash to pop a tire. The second reason is the cut looks like it follows the curve of a tire that is rotating. I had a tire that looked similar to that when I caught a piece of sheet metal that was laying in the road. I also had a friend lose one offroading that have a groove in it like that, except his ended in a hole.

Yeah I know what you are talking about, my dad has had to change a few tires that had cut sidewalls from road debris. I just haven't taken the truck anywhere that could have cut it. The cut kind of goes stright then curves down following the side of the tire. I didn't think it was slashed at first but after everyone telling me it looks slashed, thats just what I'm going with now.

Looks to me like someone slashed it with a box-cutter type knife, to me anyway.

Seems to me, if I were trying to slash your tire, I wouldn't be trying to dig through those lugs on the side. I'd go for that smooth part around the goodyear.

You do have a good point but if it was slashed by someone, it would most likely be my neighbor or one of his friends and its not to often that they are sober enough to stop and think "which part would be the easiest to cut"

Or, more obvious, what did you girlfriend run over?

Couldn't have been her... She just drove it a short trip in town. And honnestly my girlfriend isnt that bad of a driver, I trust her enough to drive my truck so that obviously says something because no one drive my truck but me or my dad on occasion.

at first it looked slashed to me as well but when i looked at the pics again i noticed that theres extra marking above and below the cut in a couple of spots. in other words its not a smooth straight slash its rough like something was hit or run over with it.

I noticed that too, but the truck just hasn't been anywhere and there hasn't been any objects on or near the road recently. I cant say I'm 100% sure someone tried to slash it but if I had to, thats what I would put my money on. I guess a better title for this thread would be "I think someone tried to slash my tire"
