I wanted to do 20x12 rims with 33x12.5 tire.. I'm sure it will rub. I want to avoid trimming and keeping the stock suspension.. Would a 20x10 be more suitable? Also what tire size would be my best bet?

I'd do 12s on a 99-04. They dont stick out as much as most people think.

You dont get to select offset. Most, if not all, 12 wides will be -44 offset. There is a guy running 33x13.5 on his 20x12s on a bone stock 00 3/4 ton. He ziptied the fenderwells back so there is no rubbing..

I wanted to go 20x12 Moto metal 962 with the -44 offset then federal couragia 33x12.5 tire. So I should be good to go?
Also would I be ok to tow with this setup?

You should be ok. If not you might have to pull back the fender liner. Ive heard of people heating them and then reforming them.

Thanks for the help I really do appreciate it!

If I need to pull back the fender liner where would I zip tie it to?
Also would a 305/55/20 be a better choice for more clearance compared to a 33x12.5?

On those two sizes, I don't know. If you look at the picture I posted those are 35x12.5 on 20x12. The tire doesnt really bulge or stick past the wheel profile. So either is probably good to go.

The 305/55/r20 is 12in wide versus 12.5.. Thought the smaller .5" help reduce rubbing?

Ummmmm. No.The wheel dictates the tires width. On anything narrower than a 12.5 the rim will probably stick out farther than the tire.

Technically a 305 shouldn't even be 12" wide. 325mm is a foot. Id be surprised if a 33x13.5 was much different. It may appear wider as the tread would be wider but youd probably just have some bulge in the sidewall. I have 37x13.5 on a 16" wheel here and theres not much difference in width.
