Truck in sig- bone stock.

Yesterday I was at a light that was on an incline, when I left off the brake it rolled back a bit then I heard a thud. It was a little slow taking off but she went. I pulled in to the parking lot to pick up my kids from the sitters apartment when I noticed tranny fluid just coming out and it goes all the way back to the light. So I get the kids and rush home, (15 miles, she made it). The only thing I noticed was that when it shifts from first to second it takes foooorrrrreeeevvvveeeerrrr (2800-3200 rpms) then jerks. Then 2 and 3 gears are about 200-300 rpms past normal and 4 is good. I get home and she pours out a little bit more. I let her sit for a minute so I don't put a hole in her. Come back out and rock her back and forward but she isn't leaking any more. I took off inspection plate and the tc is dry and there is only a little bit of fluid in there. I checked the fluid and the tranny is full.

Now the question. Is there a seal in the TC that could be bad and the fluid is coming from that or could it be something else? Before anyone says BTS, give me $5k and I will do it. Other than that I need shade tree mechanic ideas before I take it to a shop and let them rape and pillage me.

First you need to find where the fluid is coming from. If it leaked that much and the trans is full either it isn't trans fluid or the trans was REALLY overfilled. When you checked the fluid was the engine idling in park? If the engine was off your reading doesn't mean anything.

If the seal on the torque converter were bad the bellhousing would have a lot of fluid.

Well I don't know what it was but looks like I will find out soon. I am standing in an ocean of tranny fluid. It's headed to the shop Friday.

Like Mark said, was the engine running and transmission in park when you checked the fluid level?
Have you added fluid recently? If you did, and the engine wasn't running there's a chance you overfilled it causing it to puke out the vent tube.

Pump bushing went out, snap rings broke, clutches snapped, seals blown, TC grenaded it self, reverse spring broke, and there were a few other things went wrong. Anyone have $5000 for a BTS. Other than that $2600 rebuild.
