I was under the truck the other day and spun the front shaft. It completely locks up at one spot, you can power through it but it takes alot of force. I took it off and the joint stayed cocked to one spot. I hit it with a hammer and it freed right up. Amazing, smooth. Shop wants to charge $230 to cut off the joint and weld on new one. Dont think so.... Is it possible it just popped out of place last time I beat the **** out of it wheeling and it'll be fine now?

Are you talking about the double cardan joint? You don't need to cut anything off if the part the bearing rides on isn't worn. I've replaced quite a few of them. But being that it locks up in one spot, I'd suspect it's just a ujoint that is seized.

Yes, that's the one. The bearing in between the two joints looked like it was out of place, looked like a ball and socket joint. I don't think the u joints are the issue as they all have grease coming out their seals and not rust. I'm just wondering if that In between socket will just keep locking up again and again

It's not gonna get better. LOL I've never saw one only lock up in only one spot though. They usually just get sloppy.
