Viton Washers

After completing a head gasket and injector job one on the bajo bolts on the HPFP leaked. I used the new viton coated steel washer throughout. Torqued to 18 ft-lbs. Should i lubricated the new washers when i replace? Is it common for new washers to fail?

I was told by the dealer the viton coated steel washers replace all the copper washers.

The ones I get from Ford are copper with a rubber insert. I have the pn at the shop, if you need it pm me I can get it tomorrow.

I have run into this problem a few times. when you are using the new washers you have to replace the lines. Reason is because the old washers needed a higher amount of torque. This has distorted(warped the face) the banjo fitting, and the new washers cannot seal properly.

Replace the lines and sealing washers again. I have also run into where the fitting that screws into the pump will leak as well. Fuel can wick up around the fitting threads.

Pull the fitting out while you are there, clean the threads and apply a tiny amount of lock tight.

Yup exact thing happened to me. Copper washers originally on the line and was warped enough to easily see it. Didnt think to check before putting it back together but now i check all the lines first
