Will oil pan support engine weight?

I’m getting ready to put the engine back in but I need to assemble up pipes and turbo etc.

I do not have an engine stand capable of holding this thing.

Do you think it would be OK to gently set it down on the oil pan with some wood blocks (to level it)

It’s a brand new oil pan and has been on there at least a week so the silicon should be good and cured.

My only other thought is to lift it up in the air and then weld up / fabricate a quick stand to keep it elevated off the floor.

My gut feeling is it probably would be OK sitting on the pan.
I’ve seen plenty of engines in this position

Your thoughts?

I put a fender liner folded 4x over under the drain plug section of pan and then rest front end on a block of wood no issue. Have done this 100,297 times

Will you make another thread on how to lift the engine off the said block of wood next?

If you’ve got any junk tires laying around they work fairly decent, a bit cocked, but not too bad. I’ve also used jack stands on stand offs on the front of the block on 6.0s with the pan resting in the ground with no issue. Can’t remember off hand if the 7.3 has stand offs on the block towards the front or not, but exhaust manifolds should work too

OK fellas she is standing upright.

Thanks for the help.

I took the oil plug out and rested the sump on a section of rubber horse map.

Propped up the rest with wood blocks.
