im looking into the d66 for my daily driver...
are these turbos as dependible as my oem unit?

They have been very dependable for us especially with the mods you have. One thing that I do reccomend to go with it to help it out is a non ebpv pedistal, we have seen the valve actuators causing oil starvation to the turbo.
