Hard to tell by pictures, but does the positive contact in the plate touch the housing/bearing retainer on the pump where it burnt? If the pump itself is not seized/ binding, has to have shorted where you have shown us. Manufacturing/ assembly issue maybe?

no fuel pressure means the plunger could possibly bottom out scoring everything it touches..

since when dont you run a pre pump filter? every fuel system i have looked at is done with a pre pump filter and a post pump filter.. water fuel separators are designed to be pulled through not pushed through.. the stock 7.3 filter is for some dam reason but there are many stock 7.3s with a bazillion miles on them with no issues so..... ?..

Avoiding the filter debate, id say the pump is garbage.

Jake has the reason for fuel pressure damaging injectors covered. No cushion without sufficient fuel volume.

Getting back into this whole A1000 not tolerating having to pull very much, through a fine pre filter or out of a tank or both. Sump will give it some head pressure to help it out with this.
Buuuuut he's running a sump..

Yes, that's a pump warranty. Good to hear its handled.

Unless you drove the truck for miles on no pressure, Id think you had enough fuel volume to keep everything reasonably safe. What really sucks is having a mechanical pump die and the injectors keep running with no fuel.

Pop the new pump on and keep going.

I had posted a picture on my Instagram of the pump showing the wires frayed and burnt. Aeromotive commented on my picture this morning saying please call us and left their number. I gave them a ring, left a message, 5 minutes later I had a rep from the repair department call me back and explain the reason the pump had done that. He did admit it was manufacture defect. There was too much solder on the connection which ran down the wire and made the wire unable to turn as much as needed to have clearance once the cap was on. He asked when pump was purchased and approximate mileage. Asked for my info and told me a pump is being sent to me today. No charge. I put my RMA number on the outside of the box and ship it back to them. Boom done. The customer service was second to none. Hands down. I'll be customer for life with these guys.

That's awesome customer service. Worlds better than my experience with Fuel Lab. Thank you for posting.
