I'm sure this has been asked a million times but how important is this mod? Truck has the normal upgrades but eventually will get a bigger turbo setup. I guess I just don't want the oil dripping all over the bottom of the truck or on the driveway. I do like how Noteb ( I think that his name) routed it to the exhaust though.

its ideal if you dont want to have oil gumming up your whole intake tract, manifolds, turbo...

i ordered a CCV kit along with an EGR d e l e t e after installing my No-Limit intake and seeing a small puddle of oil in the intake tract just before the turbo . When it warms up i am going to pull the intercooler to clean it out also . I am gooing to add a catch can of some type and then route the hose to the rear of the truck to see if that will eliminate any smell

I haven't seen any oil out of mine. I took it all the way back to just above the exhaust tips. I zip tied it to the bar that holds the panel. you can't see it unless you stick your head up there.

I also have a reroute to the exhaust but d/c it for the moment. Was trying to see if there were ant negatives to that. Something with pressure not letting vent. I thought about t'ing into the exhaust and keeping the one to the tips so if there is a pressure diff b/w exhaust and ccv it will go towards the tip outlet.

Other than that it's good to go.

The mod isn't as important on a diesel as it is on gassers, but if you're going to mess with the intake piping it's required. The thing you need to be aware of is that these trucks put out a TON of blow by, sitting at idle. As far as a puddle, it's not that bad but you will get drips if you leave it vented to atmo.

If you do it, route it to the exhaust, otherwise you'll smell oil vapor in the cab. Only costs the price of welding!

Here's the link to my post on my updated version. There is just a slight vacuum with this setup, and by slight I mean SLIGHT! There's is no way in hell you can pressurize your crank case with this setup: http://powerstrokearmy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64954&page=12

If you have ANY questions feel free to PM me. I've had this mod for half a year now, zero issues.

If you want to do the mod and don't want excess oil vapor, you can do our simple kit which re-routes the CCV but keeps the box on the truck so it filters the oil vapor.

If the intake/intercooler piping is replaced will this mod still work?

Thanks Dallas. I'm assuming both kits work well but which do you prefer doing?

Thanks Notneb! Depending on which kit I decide to go with, I'll let you know if I have any questions. :pint:

This one I posted does a better job at filtering the vapors because it keeps the factory CCV box on the truck. The other one looks a little bit cleaner because it removes the box. Totally up to you :)

I'm not opposed to smelling it, I just don't want to see it lol.

So is the factory box on these trucks like a catch can? Does the oil that drops out in the box drain back to the oil pan?

What I understand(may be wrong) is the oil cycles through the box back into the crankcase and the blow by vapors is what gets passed through the hose. The vacuum from the turbo is what pulls some oil through the intake. I haven't noticed any oil at all leaving the ccv box and vented to the atmosphere. Just vapors .

Has anyone tried out MPD's new "baffle" for their CCV ****** kit? I am interested in this but don't want to waste my money if it doesn't work.
