Ken,

What is the piece of hardware you are going to be using to run the boost controller and other electronic things? I would like to compare it to the specs of the labjack I have used at work. I am definitely interested in getting one of these from you if I can secure one of these motors for a build. Thanks!

They offer multiple levels of the hardware running very similar software. We use these to shift Auto transmissions aswell. Really versatile.

One other thing, do you guys know if it's ok to run ELC coolant in the DT-360's?


It's recommended I would run zerex elc red if it were mine and that's what's going in anything that comes in my shop

Good deal. I recently switched my 7.3 over to Rotella elc.

I recommend the microsquirt. There's a lot of 1k hp cars running that little box the size of a buisness card for fuel and spark. The open source aspect is what's most appealing you can make it do some wild things.

I will look it up I have not ordered it yet wanted to tear down and inspect first. It's 1050 for it. I will look it up and post it.

Has anyone tried to locate steel pistons or have they made them standard now in the kit like the 466?
I thought they they were standard? Isn't that how they come equipped from the factory?

I don't know, I had read somewhere it was an upgrade option, but I don't recall the date of the thread. They may have made them standard now, I just havent found anything saying definite one way or another.

The IH kit I used had Mahle forged pistons in it. But that kit was bought back in 2006.

When you say "Mahle forged pistons", do you mean forged aluminum or steel? They almost look like they are aluminum.

Yes forged Aluminum as where the old pistons I removed. Ive in framed a few DT360 and all had Aluminum pistons , Also the Maxforce/DT466 that I have in framed where Aluminum as well. Steel pistons sound expensive.

Awesome article on the different piston designs that Mahle offers. The chromoly derived monotherms look badazz! The last piston you will ever have to buy. Lol! Need to find out if these are available for the DT360.

Damn, looks like they are only available for Duramax and Cummins motors. Plus, they are over 3 grand for six of them.

Steel pistons are considerably heavier than aluminum

I'm going to pass on the steel Pistons it honestly doesn't seem necessary on these motors from my research
