I'd like to see someone do a video of their truck idling after a cold start with the 15w40 vs. one with 5w40, preferably same truck. Might be a long shot. Hell if my brother ever switches (which I'm sure he will when money allows for it) I will try to get video of both

OK, I'll ask... For all you guys who say Rotella isn't good for the 6.0's, explain why. I'm not being a smartass or anything, I'm just curious why you say this. I asked this same question when I first got my 6.0 and a lot of guys told me the T6 syn was the way to go. Thats all I've run in my truck since I got it (except when Ford filled it up with Motorcraft 15w-40, that sucked) and I've had no issue's at all with the Rotella. BTW, when my coolant flush happens in the spring, I'll be using Fleetrite ELC.

If someone with 5/40 and get delete wants to do this I can get what my current motorcraft 15/40 does

With the amount of people useing Rotella oil in there trucks because it's so easy to find and is less money, your going to have people that say it caused them problems.. I use the T5 and my brother uses the T6 and never an issue with it.. My brothers boss uses cenpeco oil in there 6.0's and that is the worst sh!t oil I have ever seen and he hasn't had any problems..

We use rottela at work and it seams to work real well for the big Cummins, Cat's and Navistar engines in the motorhome. I used reg 15w40 Rottela T6 in my truck last winter and the truck ran fine, but it made the exhaust smell bad and the cold starts sucked last year. Thank goodness for the block heater. I changed to Delo 400LE 15w40 and the exhaust wasn't as stinky, cold morning starts are smoother and I think the truck ran smoother.

as much as I hated to do it, I went to Wal mart today to get some Delo 400LE and they were slap out. Walmart 12.95 gal. Stopped by a auto zone and they wanted 17.99 gal. I guess I will hjave to wait until restocked or go to Athens wally world. If I can't find anything this weekend, I think I will try some of my truck venders and see what they have. I,ll call Peachstate Freightliner and see if they carry Delo.

I changed my oil, oil filter and fuel filters today in my 2005 6.0l. Delo 400LE 15w40 $12.85 gal @ Walmart. Replaced 1 qt of oil with BG DOC diesel oil conditioner. We will see with this cold snap coming in, if there is a difference. I thought there was, but that could have been from the fresh oil. Diesel Kleen to the fuel.

Jim NAPA in the square sells Valvoline Extreme full synthetic. it's what I use and we live in the same city. They carry G-05 also. Sometimes the oil is on sale too. Good luck on the filters, I end up having to go to the dealer. Autozone sometimes has a motorcraft filter hiding on the shelf.

It is hard to argue with changing an injector every 30k miles too over 475k with only 2. So hard to argue that im not going to look a gift horse in the mouth and i am not willing to try any other oils. Synthetic is over rated. The truck with 675k on it gets 10k mile oil changes and 20k fuel filters however do the math we average 10k a month
