With all the talk of higher BP on VGTs versus non-VGTs and potential of the higher BPs causing headgasket issues, it sparked my interest. I tried to search but my terms were either too short, or I wasnt searching the right stuff to get anywhere.

Im going to most likely have my truck in MPD's shop for a stud job and injectors soon. Injector wise would be 190/30-75s, and for turbo I was going to go Barder or KC 68mm.

Now the non-VGT option has be interested in that. I know at minimum I would need the up-pipes and mounting/oil brackets. But other than that, I dont know which combo works well for a DD ( if at all... ), the characteristics etc. I dont mind reading at all, so Im not looking to be spoon fed here. Im just looking for info that anyone has links to, or even your experience/suggestions.

The barder stage 3 seems to do much better than most vgt turbos because he up-sizes the turbine wheel.

I wouldn't say it causes head gasket issues. If mpd is doing the work and you're only running 190s I don't think you'll ever have an issue no matter what. I love my 66 but the lag isn't for everybody.

Barder 68 and 190/75s and let her eat. Be ready for a trans though if you don't already have one.

What's your goals?

if its a dd i'd stick with a vgt turbo, unless your want it to be a weeknd warrior type deal. make sure u hasve the fuels system to keep injectors fed and as stated above ur trans will need some attention either way unless u get a tune written to be nice on ur trans.. a smaller less power tune.

& for the non vgt , i would reccomend divided T4 up pipes & a divived T4 housing on the turbo

I want to be around 600. Trans I do know about but I'm praying to the powerstroke Gods that my stock trans lasts until next year tax refund time. I know they can go out whenever, mine has 51k on it currently.

As far as fuel. I'm going to run the driven diesel RR and i have a new hfcm pump too. I'm also hoping I can hold ICP too.

If it makes you feel any better my stock pump is dropping pressure on 190/75s and I lost my trans in 3 weeks.

Hahahahah thanks bro!

Well **** happens.. That's one reason I'm skeptical about 190s.. 175s are pretty much a guarantee on holding ICP and FP.

And 175s can get to, well almost get to, 600.

I'm running a ported intake too, hoping to maybe get something there too. And I'll be running FICM tunes too

ICP is a non issue if your pump isnt dead with anything up to 210s from us. Anything more than that and ICP starts to fall off.

Fuel pressure is a different story, i see stock trucks with a reg return and new pump drop fuel pressure on stock injectors and tuning.

Right now my KC Turbo has the largest turbine wheel ever installed in a 68mm vgt. It is something that Charlie and Nate is trying out. Its got a polished .72 race cover that no other builder uses. Here's my KC billet 68. I think by far the best looking reman vgt out there I think!

I have a barter 68 and with in two weeks roasted my direct clutches. I have full force 190/75's and was dropping icp pressure but my stock pump was a little hurt so I got a Terminator T-500 and it's holding pressure great, bad ass pump! My stock fuel wasn't even holding stock injectors with the blue spring all that great so I did a Holley Dominator billet pump with a sinister regulated return and its holding fuel pressure fine.

Yeah more setback haha. I guess I'll have to figure something out fuel wise. Hoping I can detune the injectors until I can get the money for the trans.
