The gasket ships in the turbo box make sure to remove all the foam. The gasket is very thin metal crush gasket. Mine shipped with the open gasket.

    366 sxe vs Garrett Variants

Cost, ease of install, and he is coming from a Gtp38. A 38r is a long proven improvement over the Gtp38. Plus he said this, "I'm not chasing more power, just reliable, consistent performance."

    366 sxe vs Garrett Variants

I have run both the 38r and irate t4 setup with a 364.5 sxe. If you need something now and your above statement is accurate then I would go with a 38R. ^Agreed. I'll say to be a legitimate "game changer" factory mount turbo will take proven track record of reliability, proven performance and...

    T4 install help-soft plug removal

I just cut a section out of the intake pipe at the same location as the Factory CCV, Then I plumbed in the Factory CCV Intake tube. It required 2 boots, 2 worm clamps for the intake. For the CCV I used 6" piece of hose and 2 plastic fittings. If you want pictures let me know but it's pretty...

Dieselsite has a early 99 ball bearing turbo that's been released. It's listed on their website site maybe give that a look.

I was told the back plate is the same. So you can go from 364.5 to 366 by swapping covers and wheels. Just depends if you are comfortable with not having the assembly ballanced as a unit. If you are buying the cover, wheel and sending out for disasembly, cleaning and balance you are better off...

If it were me I would the change order to a 364.5. If you go big on injectors in the future sell 364.5 and choose an appropriate turbo.

I would do the 364.5/74/.91 with 200/30%. spooling the turbo is not gonna be a problem with the 74 turbine and .91 housing.

GTP38r Crap turbo? Mine is Toast... other turbos???

Cjfarm111 did you account for the barometric pressure in your exhaust back pressure readings?

GTP38r Crap turbo? Mine is Toast... other turbos???

At 35 pounds of boost a Garrett 38R is closer 50 psi back pressure.

GTP38r Crap turbo? Mine is Toast... other turbos???

Ty thanks. Now that you mention that I remember a lot of noise complaint threads (on psn) about the Garrett 38R in the years after 08. Someone did mention that Garrett retooled the 38r line & made some minor changes. My opinion is alot of the failed "billet gtp38r" turbos are related to...

GTP38r Crap turbo? Mine is Toast... other turbos???

Could have been the billet wheel was out of balance or could have been something to do with the installation of the wheel. 38r is a good turbo and they can be found for 1249.00. to your door. If you don't already have a ebpv ******/high flow housing on your 38r and you plan on doing that the...

GTP38r Crap turbo? Mine is Toast... other turbos???

Was the turbo surging under that load? Did it have the factory 38r compressor wheel?
