aftermarket bolts for factory forged rods?

Does anyone make aftermarket rod bolts for the factory forged rods? getting all my parts together for a freshening of my engine. Been looking but maybe in the wrong places. ARP shows a set for the PMRs but nothing for forged. Thanks for the help

2 questions dip stick adapter and camshaft

In the process of rebuilding my engine. as I assemble a pile o'parts I am committed to NO leaking dripping oil pan. Is there a better alternative to the stock dipstick/oil pan adapter. I know Driven has a beautiful billet piece but really, $300? not that its not worth it, but its there...

    Php tunes..

one of the things I love most about Bill's tunes is how smooth the throttle is. Been live tuned, dyno tuned and still like'n what Bill does. Barney

load pop, bang, in revearse. WTF

Yeah, there ain't no cover to pull. and I know I'm not a big enough boy to heft that 3rd member out by myself. As far as oil changes, I did that about 60K ago. Scared the parts guy when I ask for 14 qts of 75-140 gear oil. but that's what it takes. Everything seems tight, no excessive back lash...

load pop, bang, in revearse. WTF

Like I've said before, The bearing and slip joint look ok, but I haven't dropped the shaft to really look at it. the rubber around the bearing isn't shot. If it does need replaced I've thought about this one, http://www.iedls.com/Center-Support-Bearings/Our-Difference.asp Any one have any...

load pop, bang, in revearse. WTF

No Ron, no electric anything. F550 XL--manual everything, hubs, Tcase, tranny. As far as where its coming from.... feels like right in the center of the truck. the whole truck jumps. this isn't a small pop. I mean when it pops and bangs, the WHOLE truck jumps like the tranny just jumped a...

load pop, bang, in revearse. WTF

Doesn't feel bound. more like something jumps a tooth. That's why I originally suspected the T case. I don't see any broken spring eyes or mounts. The rear suspension on these 550's is almost hardtail. there isn't a lot of flex til you add about a 4K load. Barney

load pop, bang, in revearse. WTF

When I had the Tcase out, I wiggled all the joints. nothing felt bad. When I get a little free time I'll pull the shaft and check for a rough or bound joint. When this thing pops, it'll make the whole truck jump. Finding someone willing lay down next to a moving dually with 18K behind it may...

load pop, bang, in revearse. WTF

I've only got it to do it once unloaded. I was starting from a dead stop on a real steep grade. I felt a slight pop, then it was all good. I have tried with the 2sp in high or low. Its doesn't seem to care. Barney

load pop, bang, in revearse. WTF

Hey All, I don't post much, usually just listen and learn. Any way, my truck(02 550 4x4) has developed a load POP, BANG when I'm maneuvering the 5th wheel into a RV site. It only does it when I go from low to reverse or visa versa. I'll start to let out the clutch and sometimes, not always, its...

    zf 6 info

To answer a couple of questions; no I didn't take any pretemps before I added the cooler and extra capacity housing. I did all this when I replaced my tranny back in 2011. One of the week spots of the 7.3 tranny is the pilot bushing. I had replaced mine, then replaced it again with one of the...

    zf 6 info

That's why Dan does the hybrid. The 6 leaker input shaft uses a huge roller bearing for the pilot bearing, instead of the POS bearing the 7.3 has. You must machine the flywheel to accept it. I did add the trucool cooler from Bob, plus the added capacity of the FastCool. Barney

    zf 6 info

I'm a fulltime RV'er. so I tow heavy and a lot. The trailer weighs right at 18,500. My stock tranny died at 160K. I replaced it with a MidWest Tranny custom unit. Dan built me a ZF6 that fits a 7.3 but has the input shaft for the 6.0. 1 in pilot shaft instead of 5/8. It required a modified...

    Need help and input

A chip is not going to get you a big increase in MPG. especially a Dp chip. most econo tunes are more about shifting stratagy than anything else. Biggest improvement will be to look for and fix any boost leaks, good oil in everything, and very light touch on the throttle. also speed will kill...

Who has the best single shot injectors with tunes?

I'm running a set of Swamps 175/146's and PHP tunes. Got probably 30K on the combo, pulling 19K most of the time. Been very happy Barney

    250* coolant temps

I've been running the T6 myself for the last couple of yrs. easiest for me to find, especially as often as I'm changing oil. 30k a yr takes a little oil. I know not what the optimum temps would be but as far as oil goes, cooler is better. water temp is different, the hotter the better...

    250* coolant temps

My handshaker reads 250-330 at ECT on AE. talked with my tuner and he said ignore it. the PCM doesn't care what the sensor says. I changed the only sensor I could find and it still reads the same. oil temps never never over 215, even pulling 18K up a 8% grade. Barney
