04 vs 05 hpop

I bought what I believe is an 04.5 engine to put in my 05 truck. It does have the ICP sensor in the valve cover but it has the 03 style HPOP. Should I put it in or should I switch it to the newer style since its sitting on the engine stand? Thanks

You have to use the 05+ hpop cover with the newer hpop... I have an 04.5 engine as well... I would stick with the 04.5 hpop instead of the 05+... puts out more volume than the 05+, but the 05 hpop seems to be pretty much bullet proof once the updated stc fitting is completed.

the 04.5 pump is also different than the early 03-04 pump. Not sure how different as I can find a good answer but the part numbers are different.(pumps look the same)

It has about 80,000 miles on it should I put a new one in?

If you end up needing a new hpop I have a new one here for 415 shipped. 05-07 style
