2019 Powerstroke, 115k miles.

Just replaced oil, fuel filters & full trans flush.

Looking for some advice. Trying to wager between keeping this truck to pass down to my son, or trading up to a 22/23 or so.

Basically, right after hitting 100k it just runs rough. I dont really know how to describe it. Super laggy turbo spool. Really stinky exhaust, when DPF not full.

It sounds way louder when driving around and when sitting idle there is lots of engine vibration in my feet. When outside the truck while it is idling, there is a slight ‘whine’ sound like a straining power steering pump. Simply, the truck is just not ‘smooth’ anymore.

I have had it in the local performance shop here and they aren't finding anything. We love this truck and Im not really ready to trade, i just want my smooth running truck again.

Anything jump out that could start something I can research? The stinky exhaust really bugs me. Normal load, pulling into driveway, get out and my eyes burn It stinks so bad.

Any thoughts?

I’d look for exhaust leaks as well as boost leaks. As far as the whine goes, see if it does it key on engine off prior to the fuel pump shutting off. Could have an air leak somewhere causing that noise, could also explain the rough running. What all is done to the truck?

The shop said there were no boost codes, and if there was a leak it would throw a code of some kind.

No, the sound is more of a 'whine' that a hiss or something. No sound while the truck is in on, not running. Not Like after a fuel filter change when purging the air out. I was convinced at one point it was something transmission related.?

Like mentioned above, the boost a lot of times is REALLY slow to build. I was pulling 12k lbs the other day, and from a dead stop it took over 8 sec for boost to build so I could get through the dang intersection.

Only thing non-stock is a topper and I have had it since mile 7. I have the opportunity to change that, but, dont really want to invest if there is something bigger I am going to have to fix later. As much as I would hate to, I may just trade up, then mod.

Thanks for the responses!!

I questioned that, is that a thing on 6.7's? I maybe see 28-30.

When it does spool, its like there is nothing, then everything.

How well does the transmission shift?
Kinda stupid. I just had it fully serviced, thinking that would help.

it seems to want to always be in 6th. I will be going 40mph, in 6th. Then when I need moderate acceleration, I push..and push..and push...and it jumps to third and accelerates.

Going up a moderate grade to our house, it will shift from 4th to 5th, realize there is not enough there and shift back to 4th. When in 4th on the same grade as I slightly attempt to accelerate...going from say 30-35, there is just no power (or spool) and it will then down shift to 3rd and start accelerating.

When the AC compressor is engaged it seems to exagerate some of these issues and sometime causes a 'slam' shift when going from say 2nd to 3rd in slower traffic.

Serviced, as in oil/filter or flushed? What is the typical fluid temp when towing?
Flushed. I have only ever seen the trans temp actually pop up, which my guess is when it hits above normal temps? This happened about a month ago, hauling the same 12K load out of Denver up I-70 when I hit about the top of Floyd Hill. Hit about 221 I think, max?

Literally have not seen that in hauling in any other towing situation.

Have you pulled the map sensor off the top of the intake manifold and cleaned it? I've seen some completely caked over causing all sorts of weird symptoms (minus whining).

I went ahead and just ordered a new MAP sensor. It just came in so I will switch them out tonight and take a pic.

Got the sensor switched out last night. Initial reaction is the truck drove completely different. Wanted to make sure after a day of driving and yes, this changed the entire attitude of the truck. I can actually hear the trubo spinning up now. Snappy throttle response and no more stinky exhaust.

Thank you all for the help!!!
