We had one of the company 550s come in with blown turbo seals. The truck ran but ran like crap when we got it off the trailer. We rebuilt the turbo and replaced the oil cooler. Now the truck will only crank to a certain spot and acts like its hitting something. Stuck a bore scope in the injector bores and all the pistons look good and looks like nothing has hit them. What else can I check before pulling the oil pan?

I have had two different scanners on it with zero codes. Once when it came into the shop and a couple times after trying to get it to crank.

Can you roll it over by hand? Or will it stop? Could have oil on top of the pistons and if its bad enough a bent rod

I can turn it over by hand until it gets to a certain spot and it stops. It stops with the injectors out also.

it could be a bent rod hitting the crank.
if you turn it over backwards does it stop at the same place?

Sounds like a bent rod. Like said above pull the pan. Or the engine. It's gotta come out either way by the sounds of it

Nothing looked bent. Number six did get tight when you tried to turn it over. Cant see where anything is hitting.

Here is picture of one of the pistons. This piston will come up to tdc and will go back down till what ever it is hits the bad spot.

that'll do it. is the piston screwed? also-you may want to check the rods for straightness after that trauma.

i have a 108k mile good running motor studded and deleted if you want to just drop it in. pm me if interested...

Motor is already tore down and parts are at the machine shop. Got studs on the way. Thanks though.
