2008 F250 5R110 issue??

I have a buddy that has a 08 and he said that it shutters when he takes off and all the u joints and carrier bearing are good. he said that it shifts crazy when he gets on it hard too. he also claims that it doesnt do it when he puts it in 4wd. he is running a spartan on a 275. any ideas?? could he be the torque converter?? thanks

Well that doesn't explain much. "Shifts like crazy" lol? Need more details. Is it defueling? Axle wrap? All the shifts are crazy? How many miles on the trans?

Likely axle wrap if he is running the 275. Tell him to check the DTC's for solenoid or clutch codes.

yea ok. i havent rode in it or anything yet but he said he was just going to order a new converter and i told him to hold off because it could be time for a whole tranny.

on the shifting he just said it shifts crazy when he gets on it hard. lol

Tell him to check the trans fluid. The 5R is really sensitive to low levels when making higher hp. Also, depending on how early of an 08 it is he just may need an upgraded shift solenoid.

it is a job 3 truck because i told him the same thing on the solenoid until i had him give me the build date. but not to say that that isnt the problem. i also told him that it is obvious that he probably just needs traction bars on it is why it shutters when taking off and it dont in 4wd. he is on 37" toyos on a 6" lift.

If he is running very tall blocks, and/or it does it only when he floors it, it may be he needs traction bars. But if just normal acceleration does it, its probably going to be a carrier bearing needing shimmed
