2008 third brake light & Cargo lights

Hi all, had a couple of questions hoping someone else has run into it. 2008 CC, third brake light socket was melted. I replaced the socket, checked the fuse(which was fine) but it still won't work? Is there a procedure to reset the SJB? Will it reset the circuit on it's own? Does the dealer have to do this? Any insight would be appreciated
