Below are some 2011 to 2015 6.7 Powerstroke internal pics.

The new 6.7 turbo stepped away from the dual boost/SST design and ball bearings. The 15 turbo is a stout journal bearing design with alot of inspiration from the gt37 and 40 series turbos from Garret.

As you will see in the photos the 15 charger is quite a brute compared to the old design.

We are already working on some modified units based off of the new design so stay tuned...

This new GT 37 is a variable vane charger correct ? I'm used to looking at 10, 13, and 15 vane chargers, 6.7's are new to me....

I wonder if there would be a way to factory upgrade to the new turbo. Or if I bought one could I still keep the warranty. I badly want to upgrade but don't really want to loose the ability to get warranty work done. I have a good factory ford mechanic for warranty work but don't know how he could squeeze a 15 turbo out of them.

It would make for an interesting situation. You could try to upgrade to a 2015 on your own and see whether your friend could pass you for non-turbo repairs? I wonder if they could even notice the difference with an EGR over the top. It may depend on what you're needing to have done in terms of warranty work.

Exactly what I been thinking. Wish u could pay a little up charge for the newer turbo. Since it's all FoMoCo hardware.

According to Morgan @ Midwest Diesel, the 2015 turbos need more fuel than the stock 2011-2014 trucks deliver.

I was just going off this post from another thread of when someone asked if the 2015 turbos worked on the 2011-2014 trucks with no modifications.

It needed more fuel. The stock tune with all emissions intact would not drive the turbo hard enough. Threw some under boost codes. We sent him a delete package. But he was going to run it with a dpf on tune and see how it reacted before he deletes it.

Tuning certainly would not be the same between a 15 and the 14-11. Lots of different variables to drive that big of a change.
