24x12 / 4" or 7 lift" / safety?

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, I hope you guys with more experience than me can shed some light.....

I have a 13' SD, with the Carlie leveling springs, and 35x12.50.20 Exo grapplers and the XD grenade wheels.

I want to install a set of 24x12 American force wheels on 37x13.50x24 Toyo's with either a 4", or 7" Icon lift.

My concern is:
how safe do you feel when up that high?
I drive with my family, do you think it's dangerous?
Do you think the 24x12 is going to stick out way too much, and will be hard to stay in the lane?

The 4" won't work...7 will probably need some extra cutting with those wheels.

They are going to stick out approximately 4" if you don't have factory flares.

I keep seeing different pics, and it seems as though they only stick out about 2"...

Then I see the 24x11, and they are almost flush... I def don't want them too far out...

Here's a pic of 22x12 and 12.50 wide tires they are not close to 4". They measured right at 2.5 out of the fender.

Here is my truck on 20x12's with a 35x13.30 so they will pretty much have the same amount outside the fenders as what your looking at. I don't know how you measured 2.5" but Mine stick out 4-4.5" out of the fender. They look damn good but they do throw crap everywhere. If you are worried about height you could always run a 22 and a 325 which is like a 35.5x13 wide tire on a 4" lift with probably minimal trimming.

It would depend on the offset, more negative offset will make them stick out more no matter what the width is

Most 12 wides have a -44 offset. Probably depends on how they were measured. I took a level and put it vertical on the very outside of my tire then held the tape measure from the fender to the level. My wheels do have a -51 offset though so thats an extra .25" that mine stick out more than most.

Awesome guys thanks for the feedback!!!

How do you feel driving on the highway? I heard you need to "work" to keep the truck in its lane.... Currently I have 35x1250x20 with leveling kit, and I drives just fine, except the offset is high enough where it doesn't really stick out much...

Mine is the 6.0 with 22x12's and my buddies is the 6.4 with 20x12's not the 14 wide like ur talking about but u can get a good look at how much sticks out.

My truck has an 8" lift and I couldn't run 24x12's without some serious cutting. It would rub too bad in the turns. I currently have 22x12 AF's and to fit those, it took a little minor cutting.

depending on your tire size would really depend how much trimming would be needed. on a 24x12 wheel I would say minimum of 7" lift if your going to go with a 37" tire. as far as ride quality, long as you get yourself into a good quality kit, truck should handle better then stock.

kills me when guys spend their entire budget on wheels and tires, and buy the cheapest lift possible. let me know if I can help you with pricing.

I'm out of town right now but you can kind of tell by this photo. I have factory fender flares on there too. I would guess-timate they stick out a couple to three inches.......again, just a guess.

The tires I have are Nitto Trail-Grappler 37x13.50x22. I think my truck rides AWESOME! Really nice ride....

I didn't read all the comments so this might have already been said.

On a 37" tire and 24x12 you need 7-8" lift minimum. 4" just won't work with that big of a tire and that wide of a wheel.
