I am looking at getting a 2wd F250 for a DD. I was wanting a 05-07 but came across an 08 with 32k miles for a great price. It's a super cab short bed.

My wife's 08 4x4 gets terrible mileage, 10 at best, granted it's on 37s and no dpf delete....yet.

What can I expect from a 2wd?

I personally don't think there is much difference when it comes to fuel milage between a 2wd vs 4wd. Maybe 1, no more than 2 miles per gallon. My theory behind it, it's all about driving style. My 2wd 6.0 ECLB gets anywhere between 14mpg - 17mpg depending on driving conditions. My 4wd 6.4 CCSB gets about the exact same thing.

In regards to your wife's 08, 10 sounds about right with no DPF delete running 37s. My 08 bone stock did 12-14 when the DPF was in place.

You must have 4:10 gears in your 2wd 6.0.

My 05 F350 4x4 CCLB on 35s, 3.73s with a 300lb bumper hanging off the front gets 14-16mpg at 195k miles.

They're 373s. It'd probably do a little better without the glass rack, tools in bed, and city driving. But.......it is what it is. Just sayin, even my 4wd, does about the same mpg with similar conditions.

I'm with you. Comparing a 2wd CCSB to a 4wd CCSB probably wouldn't amount to much, maybe 1-3mpg. But comparing a CCLB 4wd on 35s to a
2wd SCSB on stock tires should be good for 5-7 mpg I would think.

My 08 is faster than your 99:poke: :D
:p yep
Yeah well my truck is paid off! LOL
So is mine. :evil

In regards to the 08 with DPF delete, the truck will do much better on the highway, or with a lighter right foot. I have seen high numbers making road trips to Houston and back. But 90% of my driving is city, and every once in a while I do feel the urge to press that skinny petal hard to remind me "just how fun it really is to drive".
