I just got my direct clutch pack in and the gap is massive, like 4-5mm (maybe .1-.2"). Factory spec is 045-081 and my red eagle says 020 - 035.
I noticed my old direct clutch backing plate is waay thicker then the one that came with my new clutches so I could use that but...my old clutches are in great shape so could or should I throw another clutch and steel in there to eat up space??

any advice??

I put an extra clutch and steel in there from the old pack and I get .033 gap. Too easy?

Are you using an alto power pack? It sounds like it if you have a thinner backing plate. I had to pick up some stock thickness steels to take up more space to get the clearance right in mine.

I checked with racerx, a great guy to deal with btw, and with my alto clutches I was supposed to have 7 for my Excursion, but my trans was out of a f350 4wd dually, so I did need 8. He's sending me another clutch and kolene with some other parts I ordered today.
