Well my suncoast convertor grenaded And I am assuming from a bad pump. Either way the pumps trashed I'm sure so I'm gonna put a used trans in. I can get one locally for $650-1200 out of 05's with 20k-100k miles on them. I want to avoid a 04 trans due to the pin backing out problem on the reverse hub. SO doe anyone know if the 05 trans will work in the 04? I actually can only find 1 04 locally but for some reason lots of 05's . Only problem I could see would be a ecm compatible issue but notsure. Anyone know?

The tranny needs to be out of a 6.0, 6.4 or v10. All 3 will work. The tranny had updates 08+ which included a different pan that held a actual filter. The 03-07 pans have a screen and a external filter (eliminated in 08+) also the tranny behind the 6.4 is a 8lug convertor. it will only work with the coresponding fly wheel. It is possible to use either the 6lug (found in the 6.0) or 8lug (in 6.4) torque convertor on either motor as long as the correct fly wheel is used. Hope that helps. Trannys arnt cheap.

Wow I didn't even think it was possible to put a 08 up tranny in. I found a 05 from a salvage yard here with 15k miles on a ford remmaned trans. I guess it was replaced under warrenty and the guy wrecked the truck 15k miles later. They want $850 for it with a 30 day warrenty . I think I'm gonna get that one now that I know it will work.

The bell housing on the 4.6, 5.4, 6.0, 6.2, 6.4 and 6.8 are all the same as far as I can tell. the 7.3 and 6.9 though were bastard children as far as trannys go.
