6.0 no start, spring found in filter housing

found a small spring in the filter housing anyone know wut its for? the drain back valve works fine. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1364215596.083366.jpg

That really looks like the spring from the drainback valve at the bottom of the housing. The black plastic plunger sits on top of the spring. How did you verify that the drainback valve works? Are you not getting base oil pressure?

That spring looks way to big to be for the drain valve.

Op said he found it in the oil bowl. It has to be the oil stem spring. Op. Was the spring just laying In the bowl after you took the oil filter out? Or was it up in the filter?

Compared to what? There is nothing to reference to in the picture? That spring looks just like the drainback valve spring. Also note the OP said SMALL spring. The stem spring is NOT small by any means
OP can you take a pic of it next to a quarter for reference?

There's 2 springs in the oil stem.

im betting its from the stem, almost has to be, plus if i remember in middle of the top of the stem there should be a little black piece of plastic holdin this in. its missing as well

the top of the stem is spring loaded but didnt u say there was 2 springs? this is the smaller one im sure. wut issues would this cause?
