uhh. oops. thought they would be almost the same as 6.4. glad international changed that. just ignore my previous posting.

To save yourself the hassle of pissing people off and getting ragged on, do not post in a performance/tech thread unless you know what you are talking about.

So does that mean i should go ahead and do the lifters?

I would. My 6blow has 220k on it and was studded, deleted, new trans...... almost everything has been replaced (injectors are on the way)

Point is I have a ton if money in it and I always tell myself "as long as lifters hold up I'll be fine" in other words they are the only thing I'm worried about at this point. I would feel much much better if the old girl had new lifters.

I would recommend just pulling the engine really not hard as it seems. We pull the oil pan both upper and lower 1/2 of them leak oil anyway, just so we can inspect. Then its 5 minutes to pull rear cover 2 extra bolts branch tube comes out then lifters come right out simple. I would rather speed the money you have on internal parts than injectors. its really simple to pull valve cover vs pulling cam when lifter fails. Get a lpop gasket and front crank seal and inspect oil pump while its out. Now is the time! You will need seal installer for crank seals can be done with brass punch but not worth risk of damaging 100 dollars worth of seals.
What heads for 1180???

OK so far I'm planning on doing lifters, rockers and pushrods but it's cutting my budget close. Heads are on here in the classifieds from airfish.

I would wait on the rockers and push rods till you get it apart, 90% of the time 6.0 rockers are ok and rarely you need more than 2 push rods. Good inspection and cleaning they will most likely be reusable. what's wrong with your glow plug harnesses?

He's in Germany. So it takes 2 weeks to get something shipped over there from a ford dealer here. That's why he is buying anything that is questionable now

Save few bucks felpro makes a nice rear main seal set comes with rear cover gasket for 32 bucks felpro bs40700
both rocker carrier gaskets for 15 felpro VS50695R they are listed as valve cover but are rocker carrier

Better yet if you picked up a felpro head set HSU26374 and lower conversion set CS26374 you will have just about every gasket in the engine except head gakets for about 250 bucks and not worry about missing something

I wish I had known this before I placed the order.

Ya they're reuse able. I always replace them on HG jobs though

You won't need valve seals unless you're rebuilding the heads. Val e cover grommets are probably for the bolts

OK well I tried to skimp on stuff that wasn't major tear down to replace if it went bad. So the valve covers and grommets got cut. I still spent $3700.... But that's for everything Aside from the specialty tools.
