I was wondering whether paying the extra money for a cold air intake such as air aid, banks ram air etc. Is worth it or just doing a 6637 would I get the same results

I swap back and forth between the Ford AIS and 6637 on the F-250. Will throw the AIS w/fender sleeve on when towing our 5th wheel long distances to keep things quieter in the cab. Otherwise I use the 6637. On the Excursion I just leave the 6637 on there. Might try the S&B filter someday. Used oil analysis with the 6637 comes back with silicon under 10 ppm so filtration is great. For me it comes down to the difference in noise levels when towing long distances..........

I have used the 6637 and now use the new S&B kit. Very pleased with it and it quiets things down quite a bit in the cab (especially with the 38R). The price is really good on the S&B kit as well. Check it out HERE. The noise level on the 6637 just drove me nuts.

You can get it with an oiled filter or dry paper filter.

What's the Donaldson equivalent to the 2790?

I second this. I have the AIS in when towing and most daily driving since I like my truck quiet in the cab. Put the 6637 in when I need or want most air flow. (Although I have modified my AIS air box for more airflow and have not sucked the filter minder closed yet, even with a 38-40 psi pull with a 38R)

6637 all the way. It is supposed to be the noisiest intake but the noise doesn't bother me.

The guy that had my truck prior put a K&N intake system on it (luckily it hadn't been on that long) so I sold the K&N on CL and swapped the 6637 on the ducting. Works great.

I agree, I've never been a fan of cone filters on anything either but it's just personal preference.

I have a K&N on my 02, would I be better off switching to the 6637?
