alright guys im having a bit of a issue
yesterday while driving my gas light came on at a red light and the engine started to shake but rpms stayed the same just motor shake
no white smoke or any type of smoke at all
got back on the gas and stopped shaking ,got back home, idle was fine and no shake ,revved fine
threw some diesel in it from a 5 gallon pale I had saved
fired up fine but had slight hesitation when in gear but would stop right away

fast forward today, truck started up fine in the morning ,did some things in town and ran fine
later in the afternoon I went to home depot to get some stuff as soon as I get to home depot the truck starts to shake and the idle starts sitting at 1000 ,usually idles at 750 780 pulled into the parking lot and gave it a few love taps on the gas but the response sucked and it popped threw the exhaust
barely made it home ,low on power and boggy
the whole time its happing no codes ,no engine lights and no white or blue smoke from exhaust at all

threw some diesel injector cleaner in it ,changed the fuel filter ,unplugged the ipr and icp to see if anything would change nothing
im lost at this point
wont even start anymore just cranks

but its my only truck and need help

just a check engine light right now
it just cranks ,no fire
fuel bowl is overfilling with fuel when im cranking over
I noticed sometimes when I have my tuner on stage 3 (edge attitude)
and I dump it the engine light comes on but go's away like one or two days later

Have you taken the bowl off and checked it and the lines for debris? My dad's 7.3 would throw a CEL when laying into the throttle on a 150hp tune (TS chip), his was a refueling issue with the pump not being able to keep up with fuel needs. Hopefully someone can chime in soon that has had the same problem but I feel something is going on from the fuel bowl forward if it is overflowing with fuel, something isn't letting it through to the injectors

Lots of good suggestions. Mine did something similar, intermittent too. Turned out
to be a short in the under cover harness and was taking out multiple cylinders
when it happened. Then would just clear up..

New harness and pigtail and it runs much better.

alright guys im gonna tear into it today
i know the 7.3 has the under valve cover issue with the harness
im gonna start small
fuses under dash
then pull the PCM and ICM and check them
if they seem good im guessing its the under valve cover gasket or IPR valve

my question is whats the best way to to test the ICM AND PCM ,im guessing a multimeter and check ohm resistence?
im sure the PCM is fine because im still getting the pigtail on dash and gauges work
im leaning towards ICM or valve gasket

also i changed the oil it didn't help
i figure the injectors work since im cranking i can smell unburnt diesel threw the straight pipe i have
im thinking it had a bad ignition problem and it finally went south

alright
got it figured out
it was the ICP sensor on the valve cover
went out and bought a code reader and it threw the code
got a new one and BAM!!!!! it works
thanks the reply's guys
