So I have been chasing a lot of problems with my truck. It blows blue smoke when you start the truck. And it blows it when I start going in like traffic or what not. It also has an extended crank or so when hot to start it. So with this in mind I checked for blow by tonight and came up with this. What do you guys think?? Bad engine??https://vimeo.com/121953962

You have next to no blowby, so no, your motor isn't even close to worn out. I'd pull the downpipe off, and check for oIL residue. Your turbo maybe burning the oil. As for the long warm crank issue, it's high pressure oil related. Ipr o rings or injector o rings more than likely.

Do yourself a favor. Grab a straightedge, a 2 foot level works perfect. Lay it across the top of the injectors. Do not pay any attention to the bubble, it's just a straight edge. All of the injectors should be at the same height. If not, you have an injector not seated in the bore. Never use the hold down bolts to seat an injector. The palm of your hand, or a rubber mallet lightly smacking them will do it. You will hear when they are seated.

So you re o ringed only half the injectors, or what? I'm confused by what you mean. And Arisley beat me to what I was gonna say next about the straight edge.

I just re oringed one side because it was throwing a balance fault code and I figured maybe it was causing that. But apparently I was wrong.

O rings won't cause a contribution code. I'd re ring the other side though, just to be safe. Hopefully whoever you had install the injectors is experienced with installing 7.3 injectors, because the o rings are easy to screw up upon installation.

Ya he has done a lot of different sets and he says that these ones were the only ones coming back with a problem. Which is weird.

So I don't think I mentioned this but I am using some oil. So the blue smoke has to be oil related right??

Bad o rings can cause contribution codes. But if your using oil since the injector install and you were not before, Then you have a issue with injector/s

That engine sounds like a pile of chit. I would check the other side o rings and then have bolth valve covers off. Watch and see if any of the hpo exhaust spouts are returning less, or no oil. Unplug each injector while its running, and listen for the injector that you unplug to have the least,/ no effect on how the engine idles. You def have a injector related issue though.

Ya I think so also!! And no the fuel filter is not black. I have checked them. When the truck is hot it seems to idle kindof choppy. Other then that the truck runs amazing!!

It could be an oil side of the injector. Once hot it's flowing past a poppeT etc. I had that issue would run awesome start a little miss at idle smokey. Basically was told so much oil was flowing play the plunger couldn't activate hard enough so it was just pissin fuel out and not spraying it so it was burning like crap. then shut it off and it wouldn't start until cooled off again
