I know what the recommeded CCA and CA are but what are you guys running for a batteries? Not looking for anything I have to relocate but I need to put batteries in her this week or next before it really gets cold and wanted to see what everyone is running.

Brand isn't really as important to me as what power levels.

I've run a set of interstate megatrons for two years now, they are still cranking over just fine...lots of very cold mornings on them. For the price I've been very happy with them.

I have the Sears Die Hard Platinum's and love them.
The are 930 CCA each and have a 4 year full replacement with a 100 month warranty.
My truck has never started so good and they are almost 2 years old.
They are just pricey at about $200 each.

Although I'm rocking a 7.3l I just bought the orielly AGM super start extreme. I like the way it turns the truck over and being sealed no more acid. One down side is the battery is smaller then the original so it needs an adapter. Other then that love em !

Has anyone had experience with the Optima batteries in their rig before?

Yup.

Had a pair of RED top's in it, and they didn't last 3 years.

Switched to Yellow tops, and two years later, I JUST put in one new Yellow top as it would not hold on the load test. (Free replacement)

I love that the Optimas are not liquid batteries, and that there is no corrosion from them.

If I could get them to fit, I would like to have gone with Odyssey batteries....maybe next time.

Still crank over quickly in the winter time?

really?...price isn't an issue either?...just power?

...if that is true...then get the ones I have...

CCA - 930A at 0°F
CA - 1,070 at 32°F (0°C)

im running reds, had em for 4 years now, lots of hard starts and have been compleatly drained dozens of times. dad had a pair of reds when he bought his rig last him 7 years, my bro in law has yellows lasted him 6 years. i am a fan. GF has CAT bats in her cummins 3 years old and they are bad already. nobody seems to be fans of optimas. but I have no bad experience with them

I think having a GOOD alternator, (190 amp+) will help batteries last alot longer then a crappy stock alternator. (110 amp)
