Geoff is great guy to deal with from COLT and knows what he is doing. There is other cams out there that are to soft. For quality of not having to do the job over is Colt. We also have them in stock ready to ship. We also have out performance upgraded lifters here as well.

Now this is not the case on EVERYONES cam but most cases they are too soft.

The difference being, Colts billet cams are fully hardened. The re-grinds are the same as any other. They all use a factory cam base and they are all hardened the same from the factory.

It's nice to see more options!

We've been doing our own cams for two years. We use colt for the billets though.

Hardness ground out? Why is it not hard all the way through? How are they hardened anyways? Heat treating, coating or casing?

I just had a 18speed trans take out to gears in the rear box and looking at the gears the hardness was only about 1/16-1/8in thick. And those are gears in a trans meant to tow 225k lbs in our heavy haul trucks. And cam doesn't see that much abuse so I can't imagine it being that thick

The hardening only goes a little way into the metal. I know a few guys that raced with us were using different axles and having them cut down on the one end to fit in the bearing and they cut through the hardened steel and would shear the axle in no time. It took a few sets of axles before they figured it out. But non the less they were only hardened a fraction of am inch below the surface.

I dont understand that enless they are afraid of it getting on the brittle side after being hardened. Guess it works anyways

We use stage 2 colts in most of our 6.4 builds and have great results. Geoff is a great guy to deal with. Putting a stage 3 into a drag truck here shortly, excited to see how it performs.
