Thoughts on reusing the existing camshaft? Truck had 160,000 miles on it. Cam looks great, replacing lifters and pushrods (stock).
Just want to know what the general feeling is on reinstalling the stock cam.
Mild build, not looking for huge HP.

generally lifters get replaced with a cam. like a matched set.

nothing wrong with going for a mild cam.

cam and lifters get replaced as a set in flat tappet applications...

with a billet steel roller cam, it can be re-used with 200k or 2 million miles as long as it's clean and free of defects

If your 6.0/6.4 cam looks fine with little to no wear then you'll be fine. New lifters and go. It's a roller cam so wear is rarely a big issue. Your other option would be to trade it in as core for a nice regrind...

well, cam looks good with very little wear. Had machine shop install it when they pressed the new cam bearings in. Lifters, rockers and pushrods all being replaced, just wanted to be sure before I set the crank in and get building. I think I will just run the stock cam, no lofty HP goals - just reliability :)
