I put Carrillos on my 6.4 this past winter. When test fitting, there are some cast nubs (4 total if I remember right on the outer walls (skirt) of the block. Only 1 nub actually made contact with a rod, but the others were close so I shaved them all down. The cap end of the rod made contact where the bolt head was just as a reference. Take in account the rough casting can be slightly different from block to block.

for what its worth....we have a set of Carrillos on the way here for a 6.0 and a 6.4. be happy to share what we find out when we go to install them. R&R in the red truck were pretty simple, with some machining on the rods (very minimal) from what carrilo said, these should drop right in, may only need to machine some material off the bottom of the cylinder skirt if there is extra material. Of course that's engineers talking in the perfect bubble they like to pretend exists. Photos will follow

I would really like to hear back once you get the. 6.4 rods in what has to be clearanced.

Has anyone broke a Carrillo? What power and what was the setup ?

Although Carrillo only mentioned this was a question on some 7.3 blocks this is what I'm expecting to encounter.

The cylinder walls have to be clearanced. Not always necessary, but you should always clearance an motor even with drop in components. We did it on mine when we built the motor, its a piece of cake

I dont know of anyone that has EVER broken a carrillo powerstroke connecting rod

That might be a better ? Has it been more common to see one or the other bend?

I was positive they were stockers. Jared, wasn't the only guy to bend a carrillo Dallas penn with his duramax? Wasn't it a hung injector like a 400%or something retarded and hydrolocked the cylinder?
