Went to start the truck this morning and just got a clicking noise (sounded like a solenoid?) After turning the key a few times and turned over and started.

Got home and have tried it 4 or 5 times, turns over fine now.
Battery and starter connections all tight, voltage meter showing 12.5-6.

Will a bad starter do this?

It could of been either your starter solenoid on the fender or the glow plug relay.

I doubt that it would of been the starter itself.

^These. Next time it does it, turn the key on, pop the hood and use a screwdriver to jump the two big posts on the pass. fender solenoid. If it fires right up that is the likely culprit.

Well it ended up being the starter, decided to go at 3:30 am this morning. After playing around with it I was able to cross the solenoid on the starter itself and get it running.

Got a new one from ford this afternoon and installed it.
