Coolent Additive question

My truck keeps saying check coolent additive. What does that mean, my coolen/ antifreeze is full .It's probably something simple .I just don't know what it means .Thanks for the help

Apparently it does it every 600 engine hours or so. Technically you're supposed to check it with the kit from Ford. You can turn the notice off in the settings on the dash.

I think it does it more often than 600 hrs.


I do know for a fact. I've had to add a bottle of additive EVERY oil change (5k miles) PH would drop to 7. This is on a stock truck. The Eger kills the coolant.

Thanks for the info. I was trying to play with my settings last night and try to figure out how to clear it, but I didn't. I'll try to play with it a little more tonight. What additive do you add to it? Thanks again

You can get a test strip from ford, and a bottle of additive if the test shows your pH is low

Test strips I use show ph and the coolant to water mixture.

IIRC I believe you want it close to 11 for the PH level.
