Im new here and thought I would let you guys know how CUTTING EDGE DIESEL, a sponsor, does on my truck when he does a bunch of performance mods.
I've been talking to him for several months about what I need to have done. When all is done, i will be close to 550 H.P. and 1000 lb/ft of torque running with the SCT tuner. Tomorrow I'll be giving him my truck for a week to have the following done.....
Industrial Injection 190 injectors
ARP studs and OEM head gaskets
Garrett Powermax turbo
Air dog II
sinister EGR delete Kit, Oil cooler and intake gaskets
STC HPOP Fitting update kit
Fuel pressure spring
Banjo bolt
Edge Insight CTS with fuel pressure and egt monitors.
Matt Kubik has been great so far. He's answered all my questions and knows his stuff about diesels. He should have my truck for about a week.
I wish I had the confidence in my knowledge and wrenching skills to do this myself. I am smart enough to know that if I tried to do it, I would screw something up.
Anyway, I'll be sure to post on how this all turns out. I'm pretty pumped on getting this done.
I'm leaving my stock tranny in, hoping it will handle the new found power. My truck now has 80K miles so it's just getting broke in.
So keep checking in and I'll let you guys know how it goes. I know that I had a hard time finding somebody that I felt comfortable with to do this kind of work. I heard about Cutting Edge Diesel on a forum so I thought I might pass on my experience with him for somebody that's looking for a shop to take care of their needs.

Sounds like a fun daily driver, Matt is a good guy. I need to save up some $$, I need him to build some new up pipes and a pedestal for my truck.

Why do y'all say it's not going to be 550? Matt's truck's track times added up to 560 I believe when he had 190's and a PowerMax. Kevin's truck also made 550 on a dyno with the same setup and a slipping tranny.

Heck, lubeowner dynoed a truck with 190's with stock nozzles, stock fuel system, stock FICM tune, and a custom tune and made 485 HP. So you guys are telling me that the combination of an AirDog, 75% nozzles, FICM tuning, and a PowerMax is only good for an extra 15 HP?

He also dynoed another truck with 175/75% injectors, stock turbo, FICM and ECM tunes and made 495 HP. So again, you guys are saying the addition of 190's and a PowerMax will only be good for 5 extra HP?

Greg...its likely you'll be north of 500. This debate comes up all the time but there are several people (myself included) that have made more than 530 with this setup. You may not get 550 (especially with 75% nozzles) but you wont really feel a giant difference if it ends up being 515-520. Either way...take it to the track when its done and find out for sure. Regardless...its a fun, potent setup for the street and you'll love it.

Why the power Max there seems to be so many better options now days...

for simplicity sake. I had this set up on my truck and it was my favorite street set up. I know all the options out there and me and the op have been talking for a long time about it and this is the set up we decided to go with. :ford:

I think people get hung up on numbers way too much around here. Who care's what it puts down honestly, it's going to be a damn fun truck to drive around! Enjoy it!

yeah, I have a formula for the advice of alot of folks on forums.... I add it all up, divide it by 2, I then multiply it by 0 and boom theres how much I care.... but there is alot of good info around, just have to wade thru the nonsense

We have this similar set up going on a truck next month, its a great fun DD set up. If your not 550, as said you will be close, but im sure you will be happy with it.

One question i have, the 190 75s will the pmax clear the fuel, or any concerns of running hot, were toying with injector sizes for the set up were gona do, i was just afraid with this truck doing a good bit of towing 190's might run on the hotter side, so we were looking at 175s

190's got warm with me towing a small trailer (1100 ish.) You can pull a lot of fuel out through tuning though. If he's going to tow a bunch I'd do 175's and still have close to a 500 horse. Just my opinion though...
