well my dad has been wanting to fix up a old car or truck for a couple years but just hadn't found the right thing yet. but the other day he ran across a 55 chevy cameo pickup that had been sitting in a guys garage for almost 30 years. he said it was perfect timing because next week I close on a house I am buying that is about 120 years old he is going to help me fix up. so I'm going to help him with the pickup as repayment. the way I understand it the cameos were the first trucks to have beds that came out all the way to the edge of the cab like trucks of today. the bedsides and tailgate are fiberglass and they had a few other options than a normal pickup like this one has a 3speed on the column plus a auxiliary overdrive transmission that is cable pull. there were only about 10,000 cameos made between 55 and 58 and the majority were in 55
I just thought the license plate was funny
it has a 350 in it right now that is stuck but he is talking about trying to find the right engine for it witch would be a 6 cylinder ( some of them had a small v-8)
