DIY Gen3 aerating oil

I built a gen 3 setup with a 4 line feed. im using the normal 4f665 pump with the correct pieces flipped to make it left hand rotation. the truck will start and idle fine then starts running rough and under throttle will die. i pulled the plug on the res to check oil level and the oil was very foamy. if i pull the output line off the gear pump and dump it straight into the valve cover through the fill hole the truck runs ok. i did some short full throttle runs and it doesnt seem to have the issue. any ideas?

Have you checked the front shaft seal on the pump? I've had a similar problem before with the shaft seal not seated properly or blown out/ripped.
